Hello and welcome, my name is Lorraine Ansell. I am a London based illustrator and have recently finished my Masters in Children’s Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University.

A previous secondary grammar school librarian I am passionate about reading and believe illustration is the key to unlocking another world for readers of all ages.

I am drawn to printmaking and the happy accidents that can occur, but also love experimenting with media, layering colours and textures. I draw on my own life experiences and memories as well as observational drawing to create narratives and wordplay.

Born and raised in London I am in awe of the city and the wonders it holds which is reflected in my work, and I love nothing more than a day in the city or west end with a sketchbook and friends.
